Effectiveness of Satir Group Program for Battered Women in Shelter

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Satir group program which was applied to battered women. They have the serious mental problems, such as poor self-esteem and depression, by the psychological and physical violences of husband. The framework of this program was constructed the interaction therapy, therapy of family origin, human's inter therapy, and discovery of self. 9 participants were conducted at 8 sessions for 2 hours per week from 1st February 2009. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test was used to compared the pre and post effects of the program in same group. The pre and pro comparative analysis showed the slight enhancement in participants who were congruent in communication type, the statistically significant increasing changes about the self-esteem and a statistically significant decreasing changes about depression. This article suggests that it is necessary for development of measurable communication scale at Satir model.
